Doctor Elizabeth Kilpatrick Fox on general dentistry
Kilpatrick-Fox: I think our goal – the hygienists are always after the goal of, we want the patient’s health, their mouth, as healthy as they can be. So we really need to educate them about how important routine maintenance is, whether that’s every three months, four months, or six months, because everybody’s different, and people don’t realize that. Just because Crest told us 20 years ago that you need – or 40 years ago – “Oh, come and see the dentist every six months,” that’s not the case. We don’t want bleeding. We want to see health and your teeth and your gums determine just how healthy you are. Their bottom line is we want to see it as healthy as we can, beautiful white teeth, and they’re going to help you get there.
