Doctor Elizabeth Kilpatrick Fox on dental cleanings and exams
Speaker 1: What a patient can expect when they’re coming in for their cleaning, examination, is, again, a thorough review of their health, their current health, the medications that they’re taking at the present time, X-rays, if needed. Again, review how they’re brushing and how they should be brushing, tips for keeping bacteria down. They’ll be cleaned, examined. I’ll come in and peek around, answer any questions or anything the hygienist sees that might be sticking out,, and say, “Oh, we might need to look at this.” Oral cancer screening. The adults that we see now in the office take so much medication. All of the medication side effect is dry mouth. Because of the dry mouth, we’re seeing much more decay or we can see cavities along the gums and with gum recession, as well. The fluoride just helps so that we don’t have to do as much fillings for them. I would say that we make sure that they’re feeling confident about themselves. If there’s questions, we make sure they get taken care of.
